Mallorca from Spain

My friend always knows about the new shops and what's on trend in Tokyo. While I was chatting with her, she told me the newschop was opened in Futako Tamagawa. (It was opened in April, 2005, actually...) Malloruca from Madrid, Spain. I always enjoy a new shop which I can buy the same foods sold in an original country.

Variety of Tapas, salads, Bocadillos.
We decided to have a lunch here.
We ordered own's choice from here first and paid later.

Cute and nicely decorated petit desserts are displayed in a showcase. All looks really good!

My lunch @ Mallorca.
Cod croquette, Potato with Aliori sauce, Tuna Bocadillo (mini size)
The cod croquette was pretty good! I wanna have it again!

Ensaimada
The traditional pastry from Mlloruca, Spain. Now we can have in Tokyo.

My friend's choice

The weather we visited the shops was really nice. We found the place to sit outside of the shop and it was pretty nice to have the lunch outside feeling a warm spring breeze.

I updated "Travel" tab, please check my journal about the short trip to London, Bilbao and Paris. I visited three cities in May, 2015. It took a year to complete my journal... I am planning to write about "Trip to LA" and "Singapore", but I don't know when I can finish it...

Snoopy Museum, Tokyo

On April 23rd, the first Snoopy Museum was opened in Tokyo outside of US. The exhibits were from the Charles M. Schulz Museum in Santa Rosa, California.

They are all Snoopy. The very first Snoopy, the appearance looks different from the one I know. His appearance changed gradually. Right one could be the oldest and the left one is the present Snoopy we all know now!

Penuts, the first publication was published in 1953.
Can you see Snoopy? It's very different from now....it's a dog!

The picture is created by different comic strips.

Admission ticket.
The design seems different for each.

It's not allowed to take a picture in the first exhibition room (Original comic strips are exhibit), but we are all allowed to take a picture in the second room..

The exhibits will change every 6 months. The opening exhibition is "My favorite Peanuts".

You can buy a ticket the day you visit, but the museum recommend you to purchase a ticket in advance thru the internet. The admission time is decided and they limited the visitor who can enter the museum at the time. The admission time starts from 10:00 AM and the last one is from 6:00 PM. Once you enter the museum, you can stay there as much as you want.

The exhibits are not many... I finished to see all of them in one hour.

There are museum shop " Brown Store" and the cafe " Cafe Blanket". I wanted to stop by the cafe, but I saw too many people were waiting in a long line...It seems it would take more than a hour to get a seat... I just stopped by the museum shop and got some souvenir for my friend and myself.

I used to have many Snoopy, but these are the only things I could find at my parents home. My mother kept the handkerchief I used when I was a kid. The color is faded...but I remember these were my favorite. (We use handkerchief since child, and most of them are petty fancy.)

SHAKE SHACK

Shake Shack was already popular before it opens its doors, because it was featured on TV and magazines.

The opening day, people were waiting in looooong line to buy a hamburger, and I've heard people were waited for three hours to place an order for the fist few days.
Me? I didn't get the hype, because I hate having to wait, especially for food... The day I went there was four months after its open.

I still saw many people were standing outside for placing an order, but it was less compared to couple month ago.
While we were waiting our turn, we could check the menu. After checking out the menu, we placed our order with the cashier and proceeded to wait another ten minutes.

We got a beeper, and we could find a table and wait for the burger until it's ready.

Shack Burger, French Fries and Black Sesame Shake were my choices from the menu. The burger was a little below my expectation... It's good, but I don't know it's worth to wait for many minutes in a long line. Black sesame shake was much better than expected! I think it was the best shake I ever had!

I don't think I will go back there for the burger, but I want to try their black sesame shake again.

Can't wait for another new shop from any foreign country. It is nice I can taste something new without visiting the country :)

Janice Wong

Another new restaurant was opened in Tokyo.
Janice Wong  Dessert Bar is from Singapore. I’ve known her restaurant though television five or six years ago; Japanese pastry chef and she was competing each other with their original desserts. Her presentation was pretty nice, the desserts she made was pretty fancy and gorgeous. I dreamed of try her desserts, but it was impossible without visiting her country, Singapore...at that time.

Now I can have her desserts any time I want, because her dessert bar is in Tokyo now!

All the menu is really unique.  There is no pics or images on the menu, so I had to visualize the image of the dessert with some hints describes from each dessert menu. But it was too hard to imagine how it looks like with my poor imagination...

My friend ordered "Red Miso Mustard".
I tried a bit, too. It tastes really MISO!!!
Can't explain exactly how I felt from the first taste... It's MISO, but it's dessert.

Red Miso Mustard
Red Miso Barbarois, Mustard Yuzu Ice Cream, Lemon Foam, Mustard Crumble

Her specialty is that she creates the desserts by using local ingredients. Miso is one of the Japanese seasoning. It's hard to imagine it is used for full of a dessert!
I ordered "Chocolate H2O".

Chocolate H2O
Bitter Chocolate Water Mousse, Salted Caramel
Yuzu Calamansi Gel, Yuzu Sorbet

I don't go Shinjuku much, buy there is a reason that I need to visit Shinjuku again. Wanna try another dessert next time!

The restaurant is elegant and peaceful, but very customer friendly at the same time.
It's a bar, so you can enjoy alcohol, too.

Afternoon Tea @ Aman, Tokyo

Aman Tokyo, opened its door in Dec, 2014. I was not pay much attention to the hotel, but the afternoon tea was caught my attention when I saw the pic of their presentation. I don't think I see similar one in other hotel and restaurant. I was not the only one who fell in love their afternoon tea, many women also love it at once like me. Finally, I could make a reservation and had it with my  friend.

The view from our seat. I could see the Shinjuku skyscrapers!

Free Flow drinks from the menu.
I had four kinds of drink:
Black Tea"Jewel of Nuwara Dliya"
Flavor Tea "Sunshine Lady"
Herbal Tea "Morgensonne"
Coffee
Scones
Scone of Plain and Green Tea
Hokkaido Clotted Cream, House-Made Jam(Marmalade and Raspberry), Honey

While we were chatting, the Afternoon tea plates were brought to our table. Their theme of the afternoon tea is black.
Some are colored black.
Especially, the top chocolates are all so lovely, and I hesitate to even take a bite.
Off course, the plate, tea cup, spoon, folk and knife are all black.
Yamagata Cherry and White Wine Jelly Shot
with Chocolate Hat were brought to our table, too.

Top Plate(Petit Sweet)
Raspberry, Poppy Seed Plate de Fruit Diamond Shaped Chocolate
Handmade Chocolate Bag, Fresh Berry
Brazilian Cacao 62% Chocolate High Heel Shaped Lime, Caramel Bonbon Chocolate

                       2nd Plate (Petit Sweet)
               Nagano Apple, Caramel Cake
       Miyazaki Hyuganatsu, Hazelnut Crumble
             Fraisier Fukuoka Strawberry Amao
       Cheese Mousse Okinawa Peach Pineapple
Every food was excellent!

                               3rd Plate(Savory)

                  Crostini Home-made Corned Beef
Today's Sandwich Bamboo Charcoal Mini Bun
Marinated Norwegian Salmon Confit with Green Tea

It was time for "OHANA-MI" season in Tokyo when we visited the hotel. Even it's a bit early, it was full bloom. Some people says the hotel is pretty simple, but modern. I like the lounge and restaurant a lot,  but I don't know if I want to stay there. There are many fancy and lovely hotels in Tokyo, and I prefer to stay other hotels.

Dominique Ansel Bakery in Tokyo

The Bakery was opened last November in Omotesandou, and it  became an immediate sensation in Tokyo. The opened day, many people waited in a long line for 4 to 6 hours just to get a pastry... I don't think I can wait for that long...
I know this bakery before its opens by magazine and TV, and I was so curious how it tastes like.

Last Friday was a day off and visited the bakery right after its opened.
I only know some their specialties from the magazine, but I didn't know they also sell variety of bread and cakes.

All looks good, but the price is pretty expensive compared to other regular bakeries in Japan. Couldn't try everything...but I got one monkey from the case showcase and took it to my home.  You will see below :)

I tried the one I really wanted to eat from the menu.
Frozen S'more!
Every time I saw it on TV, it looked so good.
One bite...
Mmm...very, very sweet!
I couldn't swallow it without coffee...
Very unique, but I don't think I will have it again.
1F is EAT IN and TAKE OUT and it is self-service only.
2F is a cafe "PETIT PARK Cafe" and they charge 10% service fee.
I couldn't find a seat at 1F, so I had a frozen s'more and coffee with full service at 2F.
(Sorry, you can't order cronut at a cafe)
It seems everyone does not want to pay 10% service charge, so all the seats at 1F were full. I also didn't want to pay the service charge, but I didn't want to stand holding the foods and wait for a table for a long time...
Second floor, the cafe, is quiet, and I could relaxed and have the food and drink quietly with full service.

Pretty monkey from the bakery! (Cream Puff)
Puff is stuffed with rich coffee cream, and it really hit my taste buds!
I want to try other cakes if I could go back there again
