FRIJOLES BURRITOS & TACOS

My friend asked me to have a branch last Sat, and I requested her to take me to the Mexican restaurant. Once she told me there is a good Mexican restaurant in Azabujuban, and I remembered it.

I love Mexican food, especially burritos and fajitas. The very first time I ate burritos was in LA, and I could not eat refried beans at all. I don’t think we have similar dishes in Japan. I don’t know whether it was the reason, and I felt it looks like puke (Sorry…) But once I ate it, I am addicted to it. While I was living in US, I often had the Mexican foods, and I miss them so much.

In Tokyo, we do have Mexican restaurants, but I never seen the fast food style of  Mexican restaurant. “Taco Bell”, “Del Taco” and “El Pollo Loco” were used have their restaurants in Japan(long time ago), but they were all closed. I think Mexican foods didn't favored in Japan.

"FRIJOLES" is the name of the restaurant we had the branch on Sat. I was thinking to have Chicken Burrito before I saw the Carnitas Burrito which my friend ordered. The shop staff saw me and told me they can make half & half (Chicken and Carnitas) if I can not decide the meat.

Here is my Burrito. I got the half chicken and half carnitas with callantro-lime rice, pinto beans, salsa, cheese, sour cream, lettuce and guacamole. The size of the burrito was pretty big... but I ate them all at there while I was chatting with my friend :P.
Now I know where it is, and it is not far from my office and my apt. I will get it whenever I want to eat a good burrito.

Joël Durand, "Liegeois" Mania

The shop "Joël Durand" tasting event, "Liegeois(parfait) Mania" restarted from last month. Of course, soon I received the invitation from the shop, I applied for it. They want to invite all the customers who want to join the event, but they can't...so it was selected by the lottery as usual. I was so lucky, I was selected one of the invited customers.

I brought my friend to the shop last Tuesday night the day we were invited. This time, I had to pay 1000 yen for the free drinks. It means all you can drink. The event started from 8:00pm and the staff brought the Chocolate & Mango roll cake to our table first. It was very unique, the fresh pepper was sprinkled on the top by the shop staff before we eat. It's difficult to see them in the photo(below), but you can see them on the left side of the cake. It really smells of pepper, but the taste was really unique and good. I will try it at home again.

This time the Liegeois was peach. White peach sorbet on the top, yellow peach&mint confiture and chocolate ice cream were in the middle and thyme brownies were in the bottom. The decoration on the very top were peach chocolate and heart shaped meringue. It looked too lovely to eat!
The taste was amazingly soooooo good. Especially I loved sorbet a lot.  It made me happy once I ate it, and I think I can eat bucketful of it :P
While we were eating, a professional musician was playing the french songs with the violin.

After we finished eating, the shop manager announced us we were going to play a bingo game. 30 people played the game, and I won the second prize and the prize was free voucher for next Liegeois. :) I can have it again for free!

Before we leave, they gave us the little souvenir "a box of chocolate" from the shop. Lovely service, isn't it?
Summer is just around the corner, and the perfect time for eating Liegeois! I definitely will go back to the shop which serves the best parfait in Tokyo during the summer time.
